Do you believe you are a product of your environment? Looking at the surroundings of your life, are you in an atmosphere that encourages growth and learning, enouragement, and support? Whether it be in the workplace or in your personal life, I believe those in your life have a major impact. I am fortunate that I am surrounded by good people, both personally and professionally, who all help and encourage each other, and have that factor of positivity in their life. Negativity and toxicity have such adverse effects that it is destructive to be a part of it - it’s draining and it brings you down. Make a choice of which camp you prefer to be a part of. It’s interesting that your mental attitude is like a magnet, drawing more of those similar forces into your life.
I hope that you have analyzed your first quarter results and are taking the appropriate steps to improve your results this quarter. Hard to believe that we are now in the second month of the second quarter already. Have you made progress on your personal goals? How about your professional goals? Chart your progress and celebrate the small victories … it will inspire you and help you gain even more momentum. It’s such a great feeling to ride that wave when it hits!
I’ve met so many awesome and inspiring people in the past few months - so many willing to take time to help each other. Do you think that helping others can help you achieve your goals? If you believe in the laws of reciprocity, you’ll believe the correct answer is a resounding YES! I’ve seen those laws in action, and I can tell you that it’s absolutely true. If you don’t currently subscribe to that line of thinking, consider doing something everyday to help someone else - and then see what happens. I think you’ll be amazed. I close as I listen to the squeak of the favorite toy (of the moment) by my puppy who is recovering from surgery. Have a great weekend, do something to make someone’s day, and in the words of the inspiring Randy Pausch, be a Tigger and not an Eeyore (it’s hard for me to believe it’s been almost a year since his passing).
