We often talk about what your “Bermuda” is. It’s that destination that we’re working toward. That ridiculous dream, if you will.
Do you know what you’re sailing toward? If not, take some time to analyze and determine what it is. Having that determination will help you to chart your course and establish your way points for your journey.
When you sit down to think about this, think about your values. What values are important to you? What values absolutely define who you are and what you stand for? Sit down with a list of values and continue to narrow it down until you reach those core values. Those values will help guide you in your path to success.
With 2008 coming to a close and a new year on the frontier, now is an excellent time to look at your “Bermuda” to see if it is still accurate. Review your values. Determine how you are doing. Does your personal and professional life align with those core values? Incorporate these things into your plans for the coming year. If there need to be adjustments, the new year is a good time to incorporate them.
Along with your plans for the coming year, I challenge you to determine the course you are taking. Think about what’s important to you … are you on course? If not, now is the time to do something about it. Let’s all make 2009 our year!
